Points and Travel Credit Cards
Loyalty programs, points, travel cards can all be overwhelming, but a little bit of effort can go a long way. At a minimum, make sure you are a member of the associated frequent flyer program of any airline you fly. It doesn't cost you anything, and may give you small perks the first time you fly, such as a better boarding group than non-members.
Miles never expire with these programs, so why not collect them!

Southwest Airlines Credit Card by Chase
Southwest is still a favorite among travelers despite the recent changes requiring payment for luggage, seat assignments, etc. The Credit Card makes it easy to earn points. Redeeming points is very simple, too. Reward flights are great for uncertain trips as you can often cancel a few days or sometimes a few hours before the flight with no penalty.
