Biography
My 50th state was New York in 1987 when I was 41. In 2014, I “started over,” where Hawaii was #50 on my second time visiting all 50. While I have focused on state capitals, I haven’t seen all of them. Some of them I didn’t see the inside as I traveled to all states east of the Mississippi in 2021 and some were closed to visitors due to COVID or I was there on a weekend. I’ve also visited most of the US Presidential Library/Museums that are part of the National Archives. In addition, I’ve visited many “presidential sites” like boyhood homes, birthplaces, later adult homes, and other places like Dealey Plaza in Dallas, where JFK was assassinated. I’ve spent one night each in Rhode Island and Delaware and more in all the other states. I publish a blog about road trips in the US and post about my travels. I live in Minnesota and have lived in North Dakota. I’ve lived for work, in the Navy and for two snowbird winters in seven states and spent at least two months (cumulatively) in more states. I keep an accounting of all 50 states in my blog at this address: https://www.the-driveby-tourist.com/us-states-time-expended/
