Memorable Travel Experience(s)

1) Twice, I visited my daughter who lived on Maui, HI, and we had activities every day. Hiking Haleakala, driving the Hana Road, snorkeling, and eating at fine places. 2) The deep ruts made near Ft Laramie, WY by wagon trains going west left a lasting impact on me. They starkly emphasized the brutal conditions which the settlers endured. 3) Alaska is rightfully known for its wildlife and rugged scenery. But I was even more impressed by the people I met in Anchorage and, further north, in Trapper Creek. They were extremely independent and self-sufficient, very friendly and helpful, and had no intention of ever moving out of the state. 4) I spent a few years doing contract work in California. I received my aircraft pilot's license in Torrence. One memorable experience was the day I flew two friends from Santa Barbara to warmth of Catalina Island, then to the cold and snow of Big Bear Mountain, then back to Santa Barbara. All done within a few hours.
