Biography
Retire U.S. Army Colonel who started volkssporting while in Germany in 1991-94, then continued walking worldwide and in the USA with the American Volkssporting Association. Completed the AVA’s 50/51 States / State Capitals program in 2024.

Memorable Travel Experience(s)
My wife and I have visited and walked at least 5k (but mostly 10k) in all 50 US State Capitals and Washington D.C. as part of America's Walking Club (AVA) who sponsor a 50/51 walking program, among many others.
We have not only been to all 50 states and their capitals but completed a 1-hour or two-hour self-guided walking tour in each, usually including the capitol grounds themselves.
We started in 1999 and it took us 25 years to finish all the capitals (2024) - but Minnesota in 2021 was our fiftieth state, though we had 3 capitals remaining then. Our last three capitals were Austin, TX, Lansing, MI and Baton Rouge, LA.
