Biography
We went to Florida with friends for a golfing holiday, and loved it. We then tried Arizona, and were hooked. When we retired we needed a goal, and thought ‘To play golf in all 50 states’ would be something to aim for, before the age of 70. Unfortunately, Covid and lockdown inhibited our endeavours, but if you exclude those two years of being home bound, we did it!
We had a great time on every trip, meeting fascinating people, many who were amazingly generous and kind. Each state was so different, and each had something special to offer. We love your national parks and visitor centres, which are easy to access, and are brilliant at giving enough information, never too much, in a clear, concise manner.
As for the golf, it’s been brilliant. We’ve played all levels, from the cheapest, to quite expensive. The Bull at Pinehurst Farms, Wisconsin, was a firm favourite. A great track and in excellent condition. As was Buffalo Dunes in Garden City, Kansas; super course, brilliant condition and oh! So friendly! And so reasonably priced. 7 Canyons in Sedona, Arizona was spectacular, nestled in the red rock of the area. A feast for the eyes, never mind the golf!
Where next? Probably all the countries of Europe😊. Closer to home, and doable in our own car!
